Who We Are

Empowering independence with the Home Help Program.

Detroit’s Home Help Program is funded by Michigan Medicaid and allows people to receive care at home from trusted providers, often a family member or friend. The caregiver is paid by Medicaid, with no cost to the person receiving care.

The program covers help with daily tasks like bathing, dressing, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning. You choose your caregiver. Ideal handles the paperwork, CHAMPS enrollment, and everything in between.

Your Caregiver, Your Choice

Michigan’s Home Help Program lets you choose who cares for you, including a family member, friend, or trusted neighbor. They get paid through Medicaid to provide you in home care.

Exceptions: your caregiver cannot be your spouse, and parents cannot be the caregiver for children who are minors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to your most common questions about Ideal Home Help.

We’ve built our reputation on three things: personal attention, cultural fluency, and speed. We’re not a national call center — our team is reachable, responsive, and genuinely invested in the families we work with. We’ve been recognized as a Great Place to Work, and that shows in the care our team provides. We also support in 14+ languages: Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, English, Fujianese, Haitian Creole, Hindi, Mandarin, Polish, Punjabi, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Urdu, which matters in a city as diverse as Detroit.

Through Ideal Home Help program, Detroit residents can access Medicaid-funded personal care services — including assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and medication reminders. These are non-medical services focused on helping people live independently at home. A family member or trusted friend can serve as the paid caregiver.

Yes. Michigan Medicaid covers Home Help services for eligible residents at no cost to the individual. There are no premiums, copays, or out-of-pocket fees for qualifying participants. Medicaid eligibility is determined through the state, and we’ll help you understand whether you or your family member qualifies before you start any paperwork.

Look for an agency that’s responsive (someone actually answers the phone), transparent about the enrollment process, able to communicate in your language, and has a track record you can verify. Ask whether they have a dedicated coordinator for your case or whether you’ll be routed through a call center. At Ideal Home Help, every family works with a real person who knows their situation — not a ticketing system.
